3rd batizado 2004
This was a milestone in the history of our group. An international Capoeira event took place, with many renowned masters attending, including the creator of our group Mestre Suassuna.
The event lasted three days and concluded with the official opening of our very own Capoeira Academy, displays of Capoeira from the Masters, and the Batizado, in which members of our group received first, second, and third cords. Our teacher also graduated to the cord of three colours, the Professor cord. The Capoeira celebrities who attended this very special event included:
Mestre Suassuna
Our great Master and creator of our group Cordao de Ouro.
Mestre Deputado
Taught by Mestre Bimba, the creator of a Capoeira Regional. Was officially was named the godfather of Cordao de Ouro Nottingham with the blessing of Mestre Suassuna.
Mestre Acordeon
A well known, highly acclaimed Master and musician who also was taught by Mestre Bimba and lives in America.
Mestre Jogo de Dentro
A renowned name in the Capoeira Angola style and disciple of the great Mestre Joao Pequeno.
Mestre Espirro Mirim
A well known master for his style of playing Capoeira and a great disciple of Mestre Suassuna.
Mestre Urubu Malandro
A great disciple of Mestre Suassuna who is living and teaching in America.
Mestre Flavio Tucano
A great disciple of Mestre Suassuna who lives in Sao Paulo, Brazil
Mestre Ze Antonio
A great disciple of Mestre Suassuna who lives in Guaratingueta, Brazil
Mestre Poncianinho
Son and student of Mestre Ze Antonio who lives and teaches in London. Famously known for the BBC TV idents and for his role in the up and coming Harry Potter film in November 2005.
Contra Mestre Esquilo
A great capoeirista and teacher from Sete Lagoas, Brazil.
Other guests included Professor Casquinha, Professor Rilene, Professor Rejane, Professor Boneco, Professor Caboclin, and Professor Parente.
All the masters and teachers from around the globe who joined us made this Batizado possibly one of the best events of the year in the UK.
